USE EITHER .JPG OR .GIF GRAPHICS ONLY!
Use only .jpg or .gif graphics as Page Builder will not recognize .bmp or other types of graphic files. You can upload normal graphics via Page Builder's IMAGE ICON.
DO NOT PUT A PICTURE/GRAPHIC ON YOUR PAGE AND THEN RE-SIZE IT BY DRAGGING THE CORNERS IN TOWARDS THE CENTER.
Why? Because the graphic will still be the original, KiloBytes (KB) file size, which in most cases will be 5-15 times larger than if you re-sized the graphic on your PC and then used this smaller graphic on your page.
And why is this important? Because of GeoCities' limit on data transfer. Please go to DATA TRANSFER read about the problems you can have with your pages.
For example, if you have a graphic that is 300X300 pixels and 50KB in size, upload this to your file manager, put it on your page, drag the corners toward the center so that the graphic is now 50X50 pixels, it will still be a 50KB graphic! If you had re-sized the graphic to 50X50 on your PC before you uploaded it, it could have been only 5KB is size! A savings of 45KB or 90%.
To re-size a graphic on your PC you will need a graphics Editor. If you don't have one, please go to Free Graphics Editors where I have several good, free editors listed. If you need help with re-sizing a graphic please read Re-sizing Graphics.
Now, on to how to use your own graphics with Page Builder.
I recommend that you upload your picture/graphic to your main file manager using either EASY UPLOAD from Geo's main page or UPLOAD FILES in your file manager before starting Page Builder.
You can, if you wish, start Page Building and upload the graphic using the PICTURE ICON and then browse your PC hard drive for the graphic. Some people have reported errors doing this so if it doesn't seem to work, shut down Page Builder and use EASY UPLOAD.
When you have uploaded your picture to your file manager by either method above, click on the PICTURE ICON and select [User Files] in the menu.
The box, SELECT PICTURE, will then display only your .jpg and .gif graphic files in your main file manager. Page Builder can not use graphics that are in a sub-directory of your file manager
Click on the one you wish to use to see it displayed in the display box to the right of the Picture Preview box. If this is the one you wish to use, then click on OK. The picture will appear on your Page Builder screen. Move the picture to where you want it to appear.
If you have two pictures objects overlapping, i.e. their intersection is RED then you will not be able to save the file. Please see USING LAYERS - OVERLAPPING GRAPHICS for details.
